RD maturity formula

Maturity = Σ R × (1 + r ÷ 400)^(months remaining ÷ 3) R = monthly deposit · r = yearly rate · interest compounded quarterly

Example: ₹5,000 a month for 5 years at 6.8% grows to about ₹3.57 lakh: ₹3 lakh deposited plus about ₹57,000 interest.

Frequently asked questions

RD or SIP: which is better?

RDs give guaranteed returns with no market risk. SIPs in equity funds have historically earned more over 5+ years but can fall in the short term.

Is RD interest taxable?

Yes, at your slab rate, with TDS like an FD.

Can I break an RD early?

Yes, usually with a 0.5–1% lower interest rate for the period it ran.
